American WWII Veteran Bennie Howard Jr., 92, dropped his dog tags on a beach near Florence, Italy, when he was 19 years old. He thought he would never hold them in his hand again.
But a metal detector, a man from Italy, and Facebook has reunited them.
Jury Galli was on an Italian beach searching for buried treasures when he found Howard’s dog tag. Galli contacted the town of Wendell NC on Facebook, then arranged to travel to the US to deliver the tag in person.
