ALERT Kit Helps Train Police Officers to Recognize Autism

Thanks to the efforts of Stephanie Cooper, a former police officer and mother of a son with autism spectrum disorder, police in Florida now have a new training tool to help recognize individuals with autism spectrum disorder. The ALERT kit is designed to ensure safer interactions with police officers by diffusing potentially dangerous situations. So far ALERT has provided training and more than 100 kits to law enforcement agencies.
